Iosif Grigorievich Akopyan

Akopyan Iosif Grigoryevich was born in 1931.
In 1954, after graduation from the Physical faculty of Moscow State University he has proceeded with full-time tuition on postgraduate course of Moscow State University and has finished it in 1958. In 1960, he has defended the thesis for academic degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
In 1958 he was assigned to a job in Special Design Bureau No.15 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region, (nowadays: NIIP after V.V. Tikhomirov) as a senior engineer, where he has passed then positions of the leading engineer, leading designer, and senior scientific officer. In 1960, he has been appointed Chief of Department - Chief Designer responsible for the development of radar seekers.
In 1972, the department of radar seekers development has been reorganized into the Scientific-research division of NIIP. He has been working in the position of Chief of Division - Chief Designer till 1985, when he was assigned the Deputy General Director of Scientific-Production Association 'Phazotron' for scientific activity. In 1986, he has been appointed to fulfill obligations of Director - Chief Designer of newly founded AGAT Moscow Research Institute.
In 1988, he has defended the thesis for academic degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences. In 1990, he was awarded by the academic rank 'Professor'.
In 1995, he was elected Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences. In 1996, he becomes the full member of the International Academy of Informatics. In 1999, he was elected Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Rocket-Artillery Sciences (RARAS), in 2000 - full member of this Academy.
Since 2007, I.G. Akopyan is working as Designer General - Deputy General Director of JSC “AGAT Moscow Research Institute”.
I.G.Akopyan has more than 220 published works including more than 60 inventions.
